  • West Coast Lumber & Building Material Association elects 2017 officers and directors

    The West Coast Lumber & Building Material Association (WCBLMA) announced its officers and directors for 2017 at its annual convention in October in Monterey, California.

    After honoring current president Sean Fogarty, Osborne Lumber, Newark, California for his tenure between 2015-2016, the convention looked to next year's president, Victor Fresca, VP of Dixieline Lumber in San Diego. Fresca has been with Dixieline Lumber since 1991 in various positions and is currently the area VP for the Southern/Central California and Arizona local markets.

  • Sales soar at Central Garden & Pet Co.

    Central Garden & Pet Company reported its highest quarterly revenues in the company's history.

    The Walnut Creek, California-based marketer and producer of lawn and garden and pet supplies reported second-quarter sales of $541.2 million, up 8.8% from $497.6 million in the same quarter last year.

    Net income increased 40.7% to $32.7 million compared to $23.2 million in the second quarter a year ago.

    The company also posted its highest quarterly earnings per share in ten years.

  • World & Main makes executive appointments

    World and Main LLC has made a handful of C-level appointments to push its strategic growth plans forward.

    Ned Finch is now chief operating officer, leading the company's operations and integrated supply chain teams. He's in charge of safety, plant operations, sourcing, replenishment and demand planning, logistics, and the China office. Finch previously spent 20 years at Jarden Corporation/Newell Brands, where he served as senior VP, Global Supply Chain and Operations.

  • Kelso & Co to acquire US LBM Holdings

    It's official. US LBM Holdings announced on Wednesday afternoon a new ownership deal.

    Private equity firm Kelso & Company entered an agreement to purchase a majority of the equity interests in Green Bay, Wisconsin-based US LBM Holdings. BlackEagle Partners LLC and certain members of US LBM will be investors alongside Kelso, according to the announcement. 

  • Things are happening at Family Farm & Home

    Michigan-based True Value dealer Family Farm & Home has a number of game-changing developments to announce.

    The biggest is surely the passing of the torch from president and CEO Al Fansler to his son, Tim Fansler, and son-in-law, Bob Tarrant.

    The three opened their first location in Michigan 13 years ago, having expanded since to Indiana and Ohio.

  • True Value recognizes Cleaver Farm & Home

    Chanute, Kan.-based Cleaver Farm & Home was recognized by Chicago-based True Value Co. as one of 13 “Best Hardware Store in Town” honorees.

    Accepting the award at a True Value hosted ceremony were Chris and Jason Cleaver. 

    The retailer converted to the co-op’s Destination True Value format in spring 2013, and the owners see continued community support along with opportunities for growth. 

    The farm-and-ranch segment has been an area of focus for the wholesaler, which describes the segment as its fastest growing.
