  • Bank robber stashes loot in Lowe’s trash can

    A suspected bank robber in Santa Fe, N.M. was arrested this week after a Lowe’s employee uncovered more than $48,000 in stolen cash from a store trash can, according to an article in the Albuquerque Journal. 

    Jaime Jesus Sanchez-Ramos, age 23, was arrested on April 10 and charges with an April 2 robbery at U.S. Bank. The suspect, who was wearing a green hooded jacket and a ski mask, allegedly entered the building and, at gunpoint, demanded money from a teller. Sanchez-Ramos fled with a box of cash stuffed with $52,650, according an FBI affidavit filed in court.

    “All-American Muslim,” a TV reality show that followed the daily lives of five Dearborn, Mich. Arab-American Muslim families, was canceled because of low ratings, according to the network.

    Canadian Tire Corp. (CTR) has announced the appointment of Marco Marrone as its new chief operating officer of the company’s core retail business. Marrone will have oversight of all of CTR's operations, including merchandising, marketing, supply chain, and store operations, including dealer relations.

  • Home Depot names Menear as CEO

    The Home Depot announced that current CEO Frank Blake will be passing the torch to Craig Menear this fall.

    Menear, who is currently serving as president U.S. retail, will take over as CEO and president as of Nov. 1, 2014. He has also been elected to the company's board of directors, effective immediately.

  • Zep expands presence at Lowe's

    Atlanta-based cleaning and maintenance product supplier Zep Inc. said that 50 Zep commercial products will soon be offered in 1,360 Lowe's at a time when the retailer moves to enhance its cleaning and maintenance chemical category.

  • Lowe’s Canada offers Devine Contact Collection

    The Devine Contact Collection of luxury vinyl flooring is now available at Lowe's locations throughout Canada.

    The flooring product, which offers the additional sales proposition of easy installation with a patented adhesive backing, is also currently distributed through Wanke Cascade in the Western U.S. The product is not on the shelves in Lowe’s U.S. stores.
