  • Stanley Black & Decker gets a 10% boost in Q2

    Stanley Black & Decker had double-digit growth to report in the second quarter, with a large portion of that resulting from organic growth.

    Quarterly revenue totaled $3.2 billion, up 10% year-over-year. Growth in volume and acquisitions helped to offset divestitures, price, and currency impacts, and there was 7% organic revenue growth across the board.

    Net earnings came in at $277.2 million, up from $271.5 million in the year-ago quarter.

  • Cedar Creek to acquire Roberts & Dybdahl

    Oklahoma City-based wholesale LBM distributor Cedar Creek is expanding its footprint across the Midwest with the acquisition of Des Moines, Iowa-based Roberts & Dybdahl. 

    The two companies recently announced a letter of intent for Cedar Creek to acquire the majority of R&D’s assets. Closing is expected to occur June 30.

  • Chelsea Building Products adds R&D engineer

    Chelsea Building Products has hired Matthew Coulson as its research and development engineer specializing in proprietary PVC formulations. As part of Chelsea’s research department, Coulson will focus on the continued improvement of their PVC and composite PVC formulations.
     

  • At Stanley Black & Decker, tool sales are up

    Net earnings are up, and sales would be up, at Stanley Black & Decker, if not for the impact of currency rates in foreign markets.

    As it stands, Stanley posted second-quarter net sales of $2.9 billion, flat compared with the same quarter last year. Net earnings of $227.2 million were up from $26.5 million in last year’s second quarter.

  • Valspar, Room & Board form home decor partnership

    Valspar and Room & Board have partnered up, resulting in a curated palette of interior paints to coordinate with the retailer’s collection of American-made home furniture and accessories. The color collection of paint-and-primer-in-one is branded Room & Board Colors by Valspar and is available exclusively at Room & Board’s 14 showroom locations.

    The color offering includes six option: White, Limestone, Sandstone, Cement, Putty and Charcoal. The paint is zero-VOC, low odor and quick drying to a durable, stain-resistant eggshell finish.
