  • Coleman's Home Center closes in Kentucky

    Just shy of its 100th anniversary, Harrodsburg, Ky.-based Coleman's Lumber and Home Center has closed its doors.

    VP Cala Coleman confirmed to Home Channel News that the single-unit home center near Lexington, Ky. is going out of business.

    According to the company's website, the business started as a flour mill in 1912. Owner Jack Coleman Jr. is the great grandson of company founder Clell Coleman, according to the website.

  • For replacement parts, Haier turns to Encompass Parts Distribution

    Encompass Parts Distribution has finalized an agreement with Haier, the manufacturer of home appliances and consumer electronics, to manage the company’s end-to-end parts supply chain.

    Under the agreement, Encompass will procure, warehouse and distribute replacement parts for Haier’s full line of consumer electronics, appliance and HVAC products in North America. Encompass has developed a special Web portal for Haier servicers and distributors to search for and order parts, as well as track order status, initiate returns and more.

  • CertaSpec roofing-spec tool goes online

    Valley Forge, Pa.-based CertainTeed Corp. introduced a new version of CertaSpec, designed to make proposal generation and spec writing easier for roofing contractors and specifiers.

    The new web-based version of CertaSpec, its roofing spec writing software, includes updated LEED information as well as the ability to create customizable accounts, which provide more efficient project tracking and more readily accessible technical product information.

  • DeWalt launches new line laser

    DeWalt has launched its new Line Laser, which features multiple design enhancements to improve productivity on the jobsite. 

    The DW089K is for professionals tasked with residential and commercial applications, such as installing cabinets, drop ceilings, chair rails or doors and windows. The Line Laser can also be used when installing floor and wall tile or mapping wall layout.

  • Delta hires four regional sales managers

    Anderson, S.C.-based Delta Power Equipment Corp. named four regional sales managers: Joe Brakhage, Northeast, Rick Carr, Midwest; Dennis Mickelson, Western; and Curt Thomas, Southeastern.

    Carr started with Rockwell International’s power tool division in 1977 as a district sales manager and worked his way up through the Pentair Tool Group to become hardware channel national accounts manager from 1999 to 2003 with responsibilities for a number of their brands, including Delta. Most recently, he was hardware channel national accounts manager with Senco Brands.
