  • Bob Taylor to enter Home Channel Hall of Fame

    The Home Channel Hall of Fame will welcome Do it Best Corp. CEO Bob Taylor during an induction ceremony at the 2012 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas.

    The Home Channel Hall of Fame has been recognizing outstanding service to the hardware and home improvement industry since 2004. Recent inductees include Larry Stone (2011), president emeritus of Lowe’s, and Pat Farrah (2010), one of the original founders of The Home Depot.

  • Lowe’s named as Six Flags sponsor

    Six Flags Entertainment Corp. has announced a new marketing relationship with Lowe's, which will be named the sponsor of opening weekend at participating Six Flags parks across the nation.

    Lowe's will be integrated into Six Flags' marketing efforts on both the national and local levels this spring. Additional support will include social media outreach, radio promotions and in-park giveaways.

  • Rona shifting away from big-box stores

    Canadian retailer Rona will close 10 of its warehouse-sized stores by the end of the year, shifting its focus to the opening of 25 smaller-format units, the company announced on Feb. 24.

    The new focus comes on the heels of a C$151 million loss posted for the company’s fourth quarter, which ended Dec. 25, 2011. This compares with a profit of C$20 million in the same period a year ago.

    Net sales for the fourth quarter increased 2.6% to C$1.17 billion. Same-store sales were down 2.3% in the quarter.

    Skil has unveiled its redesigned website, skiltools.com, which helps make projects easier for do-it-yourselfers and handymen. The new site features a revamped layout; updated images; and tips, tricks and product reviews.

    An enhanced navigation system and expanded accessories section offers consumers an easy-to-use resource. In addition, the website offers improved 'buy' links, giving the user the ability to cross-reference projects and match tools to accessories.
