  • Mohawk rugs pulled off Home Depot shelves

    Mohawk is recalling its Altitude Gold shag rugs that are sold exclusively at Home Depot, citing a failure to meet federal flammability standards.

    Specifically, the rugs do not meet federal labeling standards, which require rugs to have the following statement on a permanent lablel: “FLAMMABLE (FAILS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE STANDARD FF 2-70): SHOULD NOT BE USED NEAR SOURCES OF IGNITION.”

  • Lowe's names new SVP, general merchandising manager

    Lowe's has a new SVP in Michael Tummillo, who is taking over the Building and Maintenance division as SVP and general merchandising manager.

    In his new role, Tummillo will be responsible for the company's Lumber & Building Materials, Millwork, Tools & Hardware and Rough Plumbing & Electrical divisions.

    He replaces Michael McDermott, who will now serve as CMO and direct supervisor to Tummillo.

  • Lowe's sales feel the chill in Q1

    Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s reported net earnings of $540 million for the quarter ended May 3, 2013, a 2.5% increase over the same period a year ago. 

    Sales for the quarter decreased 0.5% to $13.1 billion from $13.2 billion in the year-ago quarter. Comparable-store sales for the quarter decreased 0.7%.
