Mohawk rugs pulled off Home Depot shelves
Mohawk is recalling its Altitude Gold shag rugs that are sold exclusively at Home Depot, citing a failure to meet federal flammability standards.
Specifically, the rugs do not meet federal labeling standards, which require rugs to have the following statement on a permanent lablel: “FLAMMABLE (FAILS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE STANDARD FF 2-70): SHOULD NOT BE USED NEAR SOURCES OF IGNITION.”
Both large and small Altitude shag rugs are affected, including large rugs sized 59 in. by 84 in., 72 in. by 120 in. and 84 in. by 120 in. Small rugs are sized 24 in. by 36 in. and 24 in. by 48 in.
The rugs are made of polyester and come in "Altitude Gold." They were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and online at HomeDepot.com between August 2013 and September 2014 for between $20 and $247.
The recall affects about 101,000 units in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and 2,800 in Canada. So far, there have been no incidents or injuries reported.
