A coalition of city, state and federal agencies are forming a partnership with private developers in Northern California to develop three former flower nurseries into a new housing development and open-space area. The project will create about 300 “green jobs” in construction and remediation in the San Francisco Bay area, according to the announcement.

“As you likely know, the federal government has lamp efficiency regulations that ban the incandescent. And as you likely know, the federal government has set light bulb regulations that eliminate the incandescent lamps that we grew up with.

"Rough service bulbs are a loophole in the law.

In its Global Sustainability Milestone Meeting on Monday, Walmart announced new commitments the retailer says will dramatically increase energy efficiency and renewables, and hasten its path toward being 100% supplied by renewable energy.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asked for comments. The Window and Door Manufacturers Association has several.

Acuity Brands expanded its LED indoor ambient lighting portfolio with the launch of the Z Series LED striplight by Lithonia Lighting.

The Z Series luminaires are compact, low-profile solid-state strips that deliver long maintenance-free performance in a wide range of retrofit and new construction applications, including uplight and downlight in commercial, retail, manufacturing, warehouse, cove and display. The Z Series luminaires join the portfolio of versatile Lithonia Lighting LED indoor ambient lighting products. 

Diboll, Texas-based Temple-Inland expanded its GreenGlass family of products to include a tile backer.

GreenGlass features a built-in, moisture-blocking acrylic coating that resists water penetration through its surface, plus a water-resistant gypsum core formulated to include the TemShield Mold Protection System. Faced on both sides with naturally mold- and moisture-resistant fiberglass mats, this combination has been shown to be highly mold-resistant in tests.
