  • KraftMaid introduces redesigned website

    KraftMaid Cabinetry has redesigned its website, KraftMaid.com, to allow for easier navigation, increased interactivity and new features. The website now includes new tools for planning home improvement projects, such as an improved product visualizer and “Style Quiz,” and an enhanced store locator. 

  • New-home sales down slightly in June

    Sales of new single-family houses in June 2011 slipped 1.0% compared with the previous month, according to an estimate released today by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

    New residential sales in June 2011 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 312,000, down from the revised May rate of 315,000. Compared with June 2010, housing sales were up 1.6%.

    The median sales price of new houses sold in June 2011 was $235,200; the average sales price was $269,000. 

  • EcoBlu forms truss division

    EcoBlu, a manufacturer of treated lumber, has announced the formation of a new business called E Build &Truss. Located on several acres in Oceanside, a Southern California beach town near the company’s headquarters in Vista, the facility will offer full turnkey products and services to production builders including Red Shield lumber, labor and truss packages. The business will also be able to produce pre-fabricated house packages.

  • Remodeling activity up for 18th consecutive month

    Residential remodeling activity continued to rise across the United States, showing a 15% increase in April 2011 in year-over-year comparisons, according to an index compiled by BuildFax, which uses a national database of building permit data. 

    The latest BuildFax Remodeling Index (BFRI) indicates that residential remodeling activity registered its eighteenth-straight month gain.
