SRS Distribution reported that it has acquired Wimsatt Building Materials a distributor of residential and commercial roofing, siding, windows, and doors.
Based in Wayne, Mich., Wimsatt operates eight locations in both Michigan and Ohio. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Wimsatt was founded in 1936 by James Wimsatt and his brothers and is currently run by Bob Hoffman and his sons Rob Hoffman and Charlie Hoffman.
Charlie Hoffman will continue to lead the company’s team under the Wimsatt banner, ensuring continuity and consistency for customers, suppliers, and employees, SRS Distribution said.
“We could not be more excited to announce our new partnership with Wimsatt,” said Dan Tinker, president and CEO of SRS Distribution. “The company is the preeminent distributor in Michigan and one of the most respected independents in the industry. We have admired their business over the years and I am very excited for what we can now accomplish together.”
SRS continues to be one of the nation's fastest-growing building material distributors through a combination of acquisitions and greenfield openings.
In August, SRS made its 100th acquisition when it bought Weatherpanel based in Buffalo, N.Y. The move was quickly followed up with the purchase of Aloha Roofing Supply in Hawaii. And in April, SRS announced it had opened nine new branches in eight states.
