Following the immediate aftermath of the 2024 Iowa Caucuses and federal government spending fights in January, the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) is hosting a members-only webinar with Stephanie Badger, vice president at the Nickles Group.

Badger leads the firm’s financial services practice and is a top leader in the fight against big banks to reform the current system of credit card swipe fees for American businesses. She also took part in an NLBMDA discussion at the most recent ProDealer Industry Summit held in Kansas City this past October.

NLBMDA Director of Government Affairs, Jacob Carter, and Badger - who also represents the Merchants Payments Coalition - will explore issues dominating Washington during the 2024 election year and discuss the path forward for the Credit Card Competition Act.

The landmark legislation looks to stop big banks from increasing credit card swipe fees on lumber and building material dealers by allowing retailers to access more credit card payment network options outside of Visa and Mastercard.

NLBMDA members will be briefed on the legislation and its status, along with a discussion on the political climate in Washington as the Biden Administration and the 118th Congress clash over competing legislative and regulatory agendas that directly impact lumber and building material dealers nationwide.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. EDT. During the registration process, we invite participants to submit questions in advance that you would like to see addressed.
