Mead Lumber expands in South Dakota

The Nebraska-based prodealer has acquired Component Manufacturing Company and Reaves Buildings of Sioux Falls.

Mead Lumber operates more than 50 locations in 9 states.

Mead Lumber Company has purchased Component  Manufacturing Company and Reaves Buildings of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

Component Manufacturing Company is a truss fabrication facility that manufactures trusses, wall panels, and floor joists.

Reaves Buildings designs, builds and supplies engineered buildings. They have been servicing the upper Midwestern states of South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska since 1973.

Both businesses will continue to operate under the Component Manufacturing Company and Reaves Buildings names.

The current management team under the direction of Jeff Thue will continue to lead day-to-day operations at both Component Manufacturing Company and Reaves Building Systems. All of the current employees will remain and become employees of Mead Lumber.  

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Mead Lumber now operates 53 locations in Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The company’s portfolio includes lumberyards, retail hardware stores, six truss and wall manufacturing plants, and a countertop facility.

The company is 100% employee-owned and based in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mead Lumber was the HBSDealer 2019 ProDealer of the Year.
