McCoy’s Building Supply has promoted Manny Gonzalez to regional manager.

In his new position, Gonzalez will oversee eight stores in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley.

The promotion comes alongside the retirement of Regional Manager Leroy Garza following 40 years at the prodealer and hardware retailer.

Gonzalez, a native of San Juan, Texas, started his career with McCoy’s nearly 33 years ago as a yard crew member in Pharr, Texas. He quickly joined the company’s Management Development Program which helped to hone his customer-centric approach to the building supply industry.

The new regional manager also served as assistant manager at several stores, mainly in the Rio Grande Valley, before being promoted to store manager.

Most recently, he was a store manager in Pharr while leading that team since 2001.

“I’m excited to help mentor our teams, allowing them to grow personally and professionally while building strong customer relationships along the way,” Gonzalez said. “My goal is to create service consistency throughout our region, giving our customers the best experience in the industry,”

Regarding the retirement of Garza, Gonzalez said, “He’s been a mentor to many and a friend to all who have had the opportunity to know him. I’m excited for Leroy and his family on his well-deserved retirement.”

Based in San Marcos, Texas, McCoy’s operates 85 stores, three distribution centers, and two millwork facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The company has more than 3,000 associates.

“I’m so excited for Manny to take on this new role,” said Ron Van Winkle, vice president of operations. “He has done a tremendous job growing the business in Pharr and leading his team for many years. I know he will be a great mentor for our stores.”
