    Atlanta-based The Home Depot heads into its 20102 investor and analyst conference today with a full slate of priorities.

    The company pointed to four key strategic priorities:

    • On creating an emotional connection with customers, putting customers first and simplifying the business;

    • On its merchandising transformation and portfolio strategy, including innovation, assortment and value;

  • Shoplifting suspect walks into police stakeout

    A Bronx, N.Y., man whom police believe was stashing Home Depot merchandise in a garden center trash can -- and then fetching it after the store was closed -- has been arrested, according to an article on NorthJersey.com.

  • Home Depot looks at San Francisco, again

    After pulling out of a long-planned store project in San Francisco, Home Depot is looking once again at opening its first location inside the city. According to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, the home improvement retailer has filed an application with the city to build a 120,000-sq.-ft. store on 7.9 acres in the Bayview section. 

  • PayPal extending to 2,000 HD stores

    The PayPal pilot at Home Depot stores is rapidly expanding, going from 51 test locations in the San Francisco Bay Area this week to all 2,000 Home Depot stores by the end of March, according to Bloomberg News.

    PayPal director of communications Anuj Nayar told Bloomberg the digital commerce company will extend the trial to 20 additional retail partners by the end of 2012.

  • In Home Depot, magazine takes bilingual approach

    The launch of a bilingual pro-contractor magazine has Home Depot’s VP pro business seeing opportunity to reach more customers.

    The magazine -- Pro Construction Guide/Constru-Guia al dia -- is described as the first fully bilingual pro-targeted magazine in the U.S. It will be available for free in about 2,000 Home Depot stores.

  • HD prevails in Big Hammer lawsuit

    The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit affirmed a lower court’s decision giving Home Depot the rights to Edgenet’s “Big Hammer” database classification solution, which the Atlanta retailer duplicated after hiring Edgenet to be its solutions provider for manufacturers’ products and their many attributes.

    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) named The Home Depot as its 2013 WaterSense Retail Partner of the Year award.
