  • Briggs & Stratton promotes new fuel formula

    Milwaukee-based Briggs & Stratton Corporation is equipping consumers with its newest development in fuel  treatment — Advanced Formula Ethanol-Free Fuel.

    The product is hitting shelves at Lowe's and offereing advantages over ethanol-blended gas, the company said. The formula is packaged in a line of premium stabilizer and fuel blends specifically designed to make operation of 2-and 4-cycle engines smoother while helping maintain performance. 

  • Currey & Company recalls chandeliers

    Currey & Company of Chico, Calif., announced a recall of 10 models of its chandeliers.

    Defective wiring can conduct electricity to the Chinese-made chandeliers' metal parts, posing an electric shock hazard to consumers, according to a release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

  • S&P/Case-Shiller Index shows housing recovery

    A widely watched measure of U.S. home prices showed average home prices increased significantly.

    The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices released Tuesday morning shows a 7.3% increase for the 10-City Composite and an 8.1% increase for the 20-City Composite in the 12 months ended in January 2013. 

    Phoenix appears to be leading the charge, with a 23.2% year-over-year increase. 

  • Littlejohn & Co. wraps up Handy Hardware deal

    Littlejohn & Co., LLC has wrapped up the acquisition and recapitalization of Handy Hardware Wholesale, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last January and was sold in April.

    Littlejohn, a private investment firm based in Greenwich, Connecticut, has a stake in wholesale distribution as well as hardware.

    James W. Van Buren has left his post as executive VP and CEO of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. Effective July 18, 2013, Van Buren is officially free to pursue other opportunities, though he will remain on the board of directors.

    Walmart recognized Central Garden & Pet Co. as the retailer's Outdoor Living Supplier of the Year. In addition, Central won the People Award for Walmart’s Home Division.

  • C.W. Driver expands in San Diego through Good & Roberts deal

    California-based builder C.W. Driver is expanding its San Diego presence through the acquisition of Good & Roberts (G&R), a local construction company that will operate as a subsidiary of C.W.

    G&R will largely retain its daily operations and approach, though the company expects a gradual shift in management structure.

    Wilmington, Ohio-based TimberTech unveiled an interactive online resource for homeowners and pros in search of deck answers. 

    TimberTech is unveiling an interactive Q&A platform called “Straight Talk.” The new tool can be accessed at TimberTech.com/StraightTalk and answers deck questions from pros and consumers, the company said.
