  • PRO Group honors Nunda Lumber & Hardware

    Denver-based PRO Group recognized Nunda, New York-based Nunda PRO Lumber & Hardware as the 2015 Paul L. Cosgrave Memorial Award winner.

    Named after the PRO Group founder, the Cosgrave Award is presented annually to the top PRO Hardware retailer nationwide that is fully committed to effective hardware merchandising.

    Eighteen year-old online home décor and furnishings brand ATGStores.com has a new name, a new look and a new focus on personalized, one-on-one service.

  • Big pay day for retired Black & Decker chairman

    Former Stanley Black & Decker chairman Nolan Archibald, who retired from the company in March of last year, received a compensation package totaling approximately $133 million last year, according to an annual proxy SEC filing the company published on Tuesday.

    A $51.4 million merger bonus contributed to the unusually high payout, which was "based on the annual run-rate of cost savings achieved by the company" as of his retirement that were attributable to the merger of Stanley and Black & Decker in 2010.

  • Kelso &amp; Co to acquire US LBM Holdings

    It's official. US LBM Holdings announced on Wednesday afternoon a new ownership deal.

    Private equity firm Kelso & Company entered an agreement to purchase a majority of the equity interests in Green Bay, Wisconsin-based US LBM Holdings. BlackEagle Partners LLC and certain members of US LBM will be investors alongside Kelso, according to the announcement. 

  • Short &amp; Paulk Supply Co. drives awareness

    It’s driving around Georgia right now -- a colorful Ford Focus decked out in the new Short & Paulk Supply Co. logo, a dozen or so building product company emblems and a sign that explains it all: “Win me!!”

    The car is a grand=prize giveaway for the Short & Paulk Anniversary Sweepstakes. The building supply dealer operates five Georgia locations, including its latest in Cuthbert.

  • Design &amp; Construction Week hits Vegas

    The first-ever "Design & Construction Week" kicks off today in Las Vegas, bringing builders, remodelers and contractors to the co-located International Builders' and Kitchen and Bath Industry shows. 

    In a letter to attendees, the National Association of Home Builders Chairman Rick Judson pointed to the six "Centrals" of the show, areas that focus on custom building, 50+ housing, design, multi-family, remodeling and sales. 

  • Black &amp; Decker rebrands itself for 2014

    Black & Decker has launched a new global brand identity for its consumer power tools, outdoor power equipment and home products, which will be phased into retail and marketing efforts over the course of the year.
