  • Improving the environment by reducing noise

    Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is promoting its Green Glue Noiseproofing System as a tool to prevent noise issues throughout the building cycle.

    The company said the ability to specify the LEED-certified Green Glue Noiseproofing System at the start can prevent noise issues later in the project.

  • Panasonic earns Energy Star prize

    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Panasonic Eco Solutions North America as a 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year -- Sustained Excellence Award.

    Panasonic's energy-efficient ventilation fans are the star of the day, which Panasonic assures will meet designed airflow requirements when installed, providing ventilation verification assurance. At up to 23.3 CFM/Watt, the fans have the highest efficacy of any Energy Star-rated ventilation fan.

  • A green guide for public housing

    Siemens Industry, in collaboration with the Green Seal organization, has published a guide for public housing owners and operators to help them reduce the use of energy, water and toxic chemicals. Called "Green Building Operations and Maintenance Manual: A Guide for Public Housing Authorities," the publication is now available free online by clicking here

  • RESNET and Dow Building Solutions join forces

    Dow Building Solutions announced a deal with Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) to promote improved home energy performance in the United States.

    The two companies strive to accomplish this goal by encouraging building industry professionals to become trained and certified as RESNET EnergySmart Contractors or Builders. RESNET is an independent, non-profit organization that was founded to help homeowners reduce the cost of their utility bills by making their homes more energy efficient.

  • Survey says green definitions vary

    A recent survey conducted on behalf of Whirlpool Corp. and Habitat for Humanity International by the NAHB Research Center showed that 74% of consumers believe that less than a quarter of their home can be categorized as “green.” The complete study reported opinions from consumers and builders on various topics related to green home building.

  • Latest group to file suit against EPA: Oil refiners

    The latest suit filed against the Environmental Protection Agency over it’s latest rule allowing the sale of E15 gasoline was filed by the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association Monday, according to the Seattle Times.
  • $3 million in solar rebates still available this year in Pennsylvania

    Pennsylvania governor Tom Corbett joined the Department of Environmental Protection in reminding residents to take advantage of the nearly $3 million remaining in solar rebates for the year.

    Under the agency's Sunshine Solar Program, homeowners and small business owners are eligible for rebates of up to $7,500 and $52,500 for solar electric projects, respectively, until the program ends on Dec. 31 or when funds run out. Solar hot water projects can be reimbursed for up to $5,000 and $50,000, respectively.
