Beacon acquires Metro Sealant & Waterproofing Supply

The move includes three branches in Virginia and Delaware.

Beacon has announced its second acquisition of 2024.

The Herndon, Virginia-based building products distributor has acquired Metro Sealant & Waterproofing Supply.

Based in Springfield, Virginia, the Metro Sealant acquisition includes three additional branches located in Ashland and Virginia Beach, Virginia, along with Linthicum, Maryland.

According to Beacon, Metro Sealant has a 35-year history of serving contractors, design professionals, and homeowners with tailored sealant and waterproofing solutions for commercial construction. 

“We are proud to join the Beacon team and its growing waterproofing division, which is now nearly nationwide,” said Metro Sealant CEO Garth Viar. “We are confident that the customers and employees our family has worked with for over three decades will be fully served by Beacon with its added products, services and focus on the customer experience.”

On Feb. 1, Beacon revealed that it had acquired Roofers Supply with three locations in the Carolinas. Last year Beacon completed nine acquisitions.

Regarding Metro Sealant’s history, Beacon Division President – waterproofing – Martin Harrell said, “The Viars have built a strong business through dedication to expertise in waterproofing, restoration, glass, and glazing. Their team’s technical know-how is at the top of the industry, and we are thrilled to welcome them.” 

“Resiliency in the built environment is a growing concern and waterproofing products are a tool to guard against storms and extreme weather,” Harrell added. “Beacon’s continued investment in distributing these specialty products positions it to provide protection in communities across the country.”

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. 

Beacon operates more than 530 branches throughout the United States and Canada while serving nearly 100,000 customers.

The distributor will release its fourth quarter 2023 and full-year financial results on Feb. 27.
