At Peters, left, and River Ridge, fresh donuts were made at both events, and coffee trucks provided beverages. Booths hosted by DeWalt and Sherwin-Williams offered demonstrations.

Do it Best dealers Peters Hardware and River Ridge Hardware, both in Spokane Valley, Washington, and both owned by Larry Myers, marked milestone anniversaries with community celebrations.

Myers shared his connection to the stores, as well as his appreciation for the community’s support throughout the years: “Growing up, I used to ride my bike to Peters Hardware and River Ridge Hardware, picking up whatever supplies we needed.”

Now, as the proud owner of these stores, he said, “everything has come full circle, and I feel grateful to be part of their legacies.”

Peters Hardware commemorated its 90th anniversary on April 5, while River Ridge Hardware celebrated its 70th anniversary on April 6.

Bill Peters established Peters Hardware in 1934 in the Opportunity Township area of Spokane Valley, and throughout the past 90 years, the small corner store grew into a large family owned business.

In 2021, Myers and his family purchased the store from third-generation owner Gary Peters. According to its website, Peters Hardware is the “oldest, most respected hardware store in Spokane Valley.”

Hal Norrie opened River Ridge Hardware in the mid-1950s, quickly becoming known for its knowledgeable customer service.

The business changed hands in 1983 and again in 2017 when the Myers family purchased it.

“I’m especially grateful to the loyal customers who have continued to support these family-owned businesses through the decades, and I value the connections we’ve built with community members,” said Myers.
