  • Buy.com adds home improvement products

    Buy.com, a leading e-commerce marketplace, has expanded into the home improvement arena through a partnership with CPO Commerce, a leading supplier of new and reconditioned tools and other home channel products. Customers can now shop for more than 6,000 hammers, drills, saws and other tools, all with free shipping, through Buy.com's CPO Outlets store online section. Products also include floor care, ceiling fans, saws, generators, lawn care products, pressure washers and compressors.

  • Canadian Tire announces major expansion of appliance business

    Canadian Tire is making a strong push into major appliances.

    The 1,200-store Canadian chain now offers Inglis refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers and cooking ranges, as well as Amana freezers and microwaves at its stores across the country.

    The expansion into appliances follows an 11-store test last year.

  • Ordering at House-Hasson market to be upgraded

    “With today’s technology we want dealers to have the option of electronic ordering, which eliminates paperwork and speeds products to their stores," said Don Hasson, House-Hasson president.

    Lowe’s has announced plans to hire up to 300 information technology professionals, including 150 new positions, the company said. The new hires will join the team of more than 1,000 full-time IT professionals currently at Lowe's.

  • Sears to compete in Energy Star building competition

    Sears Holdings said Friday it has again been selected to participate in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star National Building Competition: Battle of the Buildings.

    For the third consecutive year, Sears will participate in the competition, this year entering 56 facilities that will compete against thousands of other teams representing buildings across the country. All efforts will be focused on eliminating waste through improvements in energy efficiency with help from EPA's Energy Star program.

  • National Hardware Show kicks off Tuesday in Las Vegas

    The 2011 National Hardware Show opens today in Las Vegas, featuring thousands of products organized across nine categories on the massive Las Vegas Convention Center show floor.

    The Show will continue to offer exciting special events, including product demonstrations, roundtables, informative addresses and panels by industry experts, including the Golden Hammer Awards breakfast event, taking place Wednesday morning.
