Star Lumber, based in Wichita, Kan., has acquired Oklahoma-based Apex Lumber. According to Star Lumber CEO Patrick Goebel, Apex's two pro-oriented building materials contractor yards, located in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, will greatly enhance Star’s ability to serve the professional builders in those markets. Randy “Chip” Chippeaux, a 49-year veteran of the industry, will oversee the transition and management of the new locations.

“We are excited to welcome the Apex team to the Star Lumber family; they are an important component of adding value to the products and services we provide the building community,” said Goebel.

The contractor yards are the newest additions to Star’s Oklahoma expansion, which includes a truss plant in El Reno, Oklahoma, and the countertop fabrication plant
in Oklahoma City that both opened in 2022, as well as a builder flooring showroom in Tulsa that opened in 2023.

Star has been operating a builder flooring showroom in Oklahoma City since 2008. These additions bring the Oklahoma team to nearly 100 employees.

Star Lumber is celebrating 85 years in business in 2024.
