Lieutenant Colonel John Harrell and SRS CEO Dan Tinker shake after signing the PaYS pledge.
SRS Distribution announced that it has partnered with the United States Army Partnership for Youth Success program (PaYS).
The program is a partnership between the U.S. Army and a cross-section of companies, and public sector agencies. PaYS guarantees soldiers a job interview and possible employment after leaving the Army.
“Leaving the army is one of the most challenging things soldiers have to face,” said Luis Moyano, veteran program manager at SRS. “Programs like PaYS give hope to those that are leaving the military that they will find civilian employment.”
SRS said it is committed to hiring 500 veterans by 2023 and has currently reached 469 hires. But SRS is raining the bar even higher.
“We are adding an additional 500 new veteran employees to our original goal with an aim to have 1,000 veterans working at our company within the next 5 years,” said SRS President and CEO Dan Tinker. “SRS is honored to sign this pledge today to solidify our partnership with the US Army PaYS program, and we look forward to continuing to give back to those in our armed forces.”
A ceremony between SRS and the PaYS program was held on Dec. 2, commenced with a full military color guard, and included the singing of the National Anthem by SRS Distribution’s Kaitlin Wile.
Following remarks from Lieutenant Colonel John Harrell and Dan Tinker, the two signed the PaYS pledge. The event concluded with ceremonial sword cake cutting and luncheon for those who attended.
Based in McKinney, Texas, SRS has grown to become one of the largest and fastest-growing building products distributors in the United States. With a focus on roofing materials, SRS operates 500 locations across 44 states. SRS Distribution is a portfolio company of Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. and Berkshire Partners LLC.
