  • Lowe’s goes 11 for 12 in third quarter

    Lowe’s CEO Robert Niblock said the Mooresville, N.C.-based retail giant saw strength in all parts of the country in the third quarter. 

    As the company reported 6.2% comparable store sales gains, it also saw comps grow in 11 of 12 product categories. 

    The only category to slip was outdoor power equipment. Niblock explained the catgory “was achieving solid positive comps into the last week of the quarter when faced with a substantial headwind from the sales of generators, the result of Superstorm Sandy.”

  • Lowe's to build another Georgia distribution center

    Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe's will build a 1.4 million-sq.-ft. distribution center in Rome, Ga., according to an article in the Charlotte Business Journal.

    The distribution center, described by the newspaper as a $125 million facility, will begin serving Lowe's stores in western Georgia, northern Florida and Alabama beginning in 2013. It's located in the North Floyd Industrial Park.

  • Briggs & Stratton promotes new fuel formula

    Milwaukee-based Briggs & Stratton Corporation is equipping consumers with its newest development in fuel  treatment — Advanced Formula Ethanol-Free Fuel.

    The product is hitting shelves at Lowe's and offereing advantages over ethanol-blended gas, the company said. The formula is packaged in a line of premium stabilizer and fuel blends specifically designed to make operation of 2-and 4-cycle engines smoother while helping maintain performance.
