Knauf Insulation, Inc. has launched Knauf Academy virtual reality (VR) training for customers, with support from digital studio Subvrsive.

Knauf says it increasingly sees the the importance of product training and education for both customers and workers alike, and it identified the opportunity to use immersive technology to bolster training efforts in a tangible manner.

Knauf sought out a partner to support the reimagining of its training programs, and it selected Subvrsive to help elevate Knauf Academy education through VR-based simulations.

“VR training is proven to accelerate users’ ability to be trained, up to four times faster than normal,” said Mickey Chastain, senior manager, Knauf Academy. “VR training will also support 3.75 times more engagement than traditional e-learning methods and increase confidence of the learners by 275 percent in applying new skills.”

With the support of Subvrsive, a VR platform was developed that extends the capabilities of the Knauf Academy. This VR solution immerses users in realistic jobsite simulations where they can learn key insulation installation techniques across residential and commercial environments.

“Partnering with Knauf to bring their innovative vision for customer training to life has been an incredible journey. By combining Knauf’s industry leadership with our expertise in virtual reality, we’ve created a solution that not only enhances engagement but also empowers customers to succeed with confidence in real-world applications,” said Subvrsive CEO Anthony Burke.

Based in Iphofen, Germany, Knauf has more than 40,000 employees across 300 production facilities in 90 countries. In North America, Knauf manufactures thermal and acoustical fiberglass insulation for residential, commercial, industrial and metal building applications.
