  • Menards grand openings set for April 9

    Not far from St. Louis in St. Peter's, Mo., and O'Fallon, Ill., two new Menards stores will open Tuesday.
  • Home Depot opens big-format store

    Home Depot has opened a 211,000-sq.-ft. “superstore” in Anaheim Hills, Calif., which it describes as “almost twice the size of [a] regular Home Depot.” The unit, situated in an affluent area of Orange County, is an existing store that was remodeled. Among the changes are:

  • Lowe's, Rebuilding Together partner to repair Phoenix homes

    Rebuilding Together has teamed up with Lowe's through its Community Partners program to provide free home repairs to four low-income homeowners and to support the Friendly House in the Central City neighborhood of Phoenix on Feb. 20 and 21.
  • Home channel employees praised on Capitol Hill

    Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky,), speaking on the floor of the U.S. Senate on tornado relief efforts last month, singled out several lumberyards and home-improvement retailers for their assistance in the aftermath of last month’s tornados. 

  • Lowe's showcases 'smart home' solutions

    Lowe’s sponsored a networking reception this week at the 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, giving the home improvement retailer a chance to showcase its new offerings in the “connected home” product category. The Jan. 8 event was in partnership with Parks Associates, an international research firm that hosts the annual Connections Summit at CES.

  • Nardelli moves on, again

    The former Home Depot CEO has resigned from his post as CEO of Cerberus Operations and Advisory Co. 

    Nardelli will continue to serve as adviser to Steve Feinberg, CEO of Cerberus Capital Management. Nardelli will also focus on his own investing company, called XLR-8.

  • Lowe's takes America's pulse on smart home

    Lowe's took a deeper look at the motivations and desires that shape America's attitude toward smart home technology, many of which suggest that simplicity - and not so much the fancy bells and whistles -- will save the day.

    The Lowe's 2014 Smart Home Survey questioned more than 2,000 U.S. adults, conducted online in July by Harris Poll.
