What originally started as a small lumber and coal supply yard, situated along the Northeast corridor rail line, has evolved through the years with changing products and customer needs.

“Successful businesses in any industry know how to adapt with ever-changing market demands and continue to serve the needs of their customer,” said John Perna, president, CEO and third- generation co-owner of the company.

As Hamilton Building Supply adapted and adjusted, many regional competitors have closed their doors. Keith Coleman, chairman and second-generation co-owner said:  “Earlier in my career at Hamilton Building Supply, there were 14 lumber and building material dealers in our county alone, and now we’re only one of two dealers that remain.

One hundred years of success is a testament to how our company has been able to adapt, evolve and innovate over the years.

To celebrate its 100-year anniversary, the company hosted its biggest customer and vendor appreciation event, with over 550 people in attendance. Vendors showcased their latest products in the company’s newly renovated 15,000 sq. ft. production space, while customers enjoyed signature drinks, different food trucks and a live band.

“We wanted to throw a party that our customers, vendor partners, friends and family would all enjoy. We’re a tight knit company, with long standing relationships, so it was important for us to host an event that celebrated where we came from and where we’re going,” said Perna.

The company leaders added that the family-owned business emphasizes a family-like culture; and that has been a key to its longevity and success.

“Through all the product and supply changes, what remains constant is our commitment to providing rewarding and fulfilling careers for all of our employees and together we bring value and positive experiences to our customers.” said Perna.

Coleman added: “One hundred years of success is a testament to how our company has been able to adapt, evolve and innovate over the years, while passing along good stewardship and fundamentals from generation to generation.”
