  • Financing and technology packaged in solar product

    Fremont, Calif.-based EchoFirst launched its newest Echo solar system and the nation’s first combined solar electric and solar thermal lease for the residential market.

    The newest Echo solar system builds on the success of the Echo+ solar system, which has been installed in more than 1,000 homes. While basic solar electric or “PV” systems only provide electricity, Echo and Echo+ provide electricity and thermal energy. 

  • NORPAC, BPA partner on northwest energy-efficiency project

    Executives from Weyerhaeuser, Nippon Paper Industries, Cowlitz County Public Utility District, and the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) recently gathered at the North Pacific Paper Corp. (NORPAC) facility to celebrate the largest industrial energy efficiency project in BPA history and one of the largest energy efficiency projects in the United States to date. 

  • EPA solicits WaterSense program feedback

    The WaterSense program, run by the Environmental Protection Agency, will hold public meetings to discuss proposed changes to the WaterSense Product Certification System, which controls the certification process to ensure that WaterSense-labeled products are in accordance with EPA regulations. These program revisions, according to the EPA, will aim for growth of the WaterSense program, and to make better use of the program’s resources.

  • “Green” claims confuse consumers

    A survey conducted by Cone, a brand strategy and marketing firm, indicates that most consumers continue to misunderstand phrases commonly used in environmental marketing and advertising, giving products more credit than they deserve. At the same time, most Americans are willing to punish a company if they think they were deliberately misled by “greenwashing” claims.

  • In Colorado, Energy Resource Center helps homeowners

    According to an article in the Vail Daily, an "Energy Resource Center" opened in Edwards, Colo., offering support for homeowners.

    Homeowners and their associations can use the center to explore opportunities in energy saving projects and tax incentives. The center also offers free energy assessments and cost estimates for home projects.
