The National Association of Realtors (NAR) announced this afternoon that President Tracy Kasper has resigned following threats.

Kasper informed the association’s leadership team that she recently received a threat to disclose a past personal, non-financial matter unless she compromised her position, the NAR said in a press release issued this afternoon.

According to the NAR, Kasper refused to initially resign and reported the threat to law enforcement. But the executive has since resigned from her position.

“Ms. Kasper felt that, in the circumstances, it was best for the organization that she step down,” the NAR said. “The leadership team is deeply concerned about any attempt to undermine its governance and, as a result, is taking steps to protect the integrity of the organization.”

Kasper is the broker-owner of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Silverhawk Realty in the Boise Valley and a majority owner in two other Idaho real estate companies. She has over 30 years of experience in real estate

“As president and a long-time member of NAR, I always have put the interests of NAR first,” Kasper said in a prepared statement. “As a result of the recent threat and given the significance of this moment for myself, my family, and the organization, it is again time for me to put the interests of NAR first. So, it is with a mix of gratitude and a heavy heart that I submit my resignation as your president effective immediately.”

President-elect Kevin Sears will step into the role of NAR President, effective immediately.  He has served NAR in numerous capacities, including as a president’s liaison in 2019 and as NAR Vice President of Government Affairs in 2017.

Last November, Nykia Wright was appointed interim CEO of the NAR, starting November 20.

Bob Goldberg, who announced his planned retirement in June, will serve as an executive consultant to NAR to help support the transition. As previously announced, NAR is conducting a comprehensive search process to identify a permanent CEO.
