Floor & Decor expands in Austin market

On the heels of breaking the $1 billion sales mark for the first time in company history, Floor & Decor is expanding again.

The hard-surface flooring specialty retailer, leading specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring, will open its latest store in Cedar Park, Texas. The new location will be Floor & Decor’s fourth warehouse store in the Austin market.

Overall, Floor & Decor now operates more than 30 locations in Texas.

The Cedar Park location will open with a team of about 45 full-time and part-time associates led by John Yingling, the new store’s chief executive merchant.

“We are excited to introduce both Professional customers, as well as Homeowners, to our one-stop solution for their flooring needs with an extensive selection of in-stock, trend-right flooring options,”  said Yingling.  “With our free design services, we look forward to helping every customer turn their vision into reality.”

Floor & Decor is also welcoming builders, contractors, architects, designers, remodelers, flooring installers, and realtors to visit the new location.

“Building relationships with our local professionals is very important to us. Their success is our success,” said Yingling.

Earlier this month, Floor & Decor reported third quarter sales jumped more than 25% to $1.1 billion from sales of $877 million in the third quarter 2021. Comparable store sales 11.6% for the quarter. 

The Atlanta-based company also posted a net income of $76.2 million for the period, rising 2% from a net income of $74.6 million for the same period a year ago.

Floor & Decor opened four new warehouse store locations and five design studios during the third quarter. As of Sept. 29, the retailer operated 178 locations in 35 states.

Through the first three quarters of 2022, the retailer has opened 19 new warehouse stores and three design studios while closing one warehouse store.
