Las Vegas—The Home Depot’s effort to expand its business with pro customers has brought the world’s largest home improvement retailer into a partnership with Austin, Texas-based Buildxact.

In fact, during the recent International Builders’ Show here, Buildxact was the lone vendor invited to share the booth with Home Depot. In one corner of Home Depot’s large exhibit booth was a display area promoting The Home Depot Optimal Pro Experience, powered by Buildxact.

The experience allows pros to quickly build estimates using accurate material counts and live pricing from The Home Depot. The software also synchs with Home Depot Pro Xtra accounts.

According to Ben Quigley, The Home Depot’s senior director of pro digital and marketing, the partnership with Buildxact’s digital tool improves the company’s ability to “build a great experience for the pro.”

The software is designed to make purchasing simple, efficient and error free — providing the small- and medium-size builder the kind of digital tool typical of the biggest construction players.

Measuring efficiency

Buildxact launched a technology integration with LiDAR scanning app RENDR to use a mobile device to scan a room and instantly capture measurements to create a takeoff in a PDF or CAD file. Measurements with RENDR are accurate within 1%, the company says.

And in a field where time is money, the RENDR integration can cut each measure by 45 minutes to an hour.

The Home Depot Optimal Pro Experience harnesses the power of AI, nourished by years of Buildxact takeoff data. With artificial intelligence integrated into its software platform, Buildxact allows users to generate project estimates in as little as 30 seconds using real-time Home Depot material pricing. This AI-driven feature enhances efficiency, providing detailed cost breakdowns and enabling seamless adjustments via AI prompts or manual input, the company said.

“At Buildxact, we’ve made construction estimating quick and simple for builders, and now we’ve made it easier for builders to work seamlessly with AI,” Steve Yates, Buildxact CEO, said. “With Buildxact, setup time is now lower than ever, so our builders can bid and win more work using the most accurate pricing from The Home Depot.”

The Home Depot Optimal Pro Experience offers customers real-time pricing from their local Home Depot store, and digital take-off tools with project estimates tailored to the customer’s individual specs and informed by similar jobs.

“We understand how difficult it is to be a builder,” said the Home Depot’s Quigley. “The ability to serve them in the way they expect is important for us, and helps their businesses do the right thing for their customers.”
