The Building Center grows in North Carolina

The independent prodealer has acquired Mountain Lumber in the state’s High Country region.

Mountain Lumber Company describes itself as a "Sustainable Building Center."

The Building Center has acquired Mountain Lumber Company located near Boone, North Carolina.

The move expands The Building Center’s reach into the state’s High Country region along with neighboring Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. This is the sixth acquisition made by The Building Center in the past seven years.

Based in Pineville, North Carolina, The Building Center now operates nine locations in the Carolinas.

"We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to continue to make inroads and build relationships with builders and remodelers in northwestern North Carolina,” said Skip Norris, president of The Building Center. “Mountain Lumber has been in business since 1988. Owners Tammy and Chuck Mantooth, Taelor and Isaac Hodges, and Samara Critcher have built a talented team over the years and have a wonderful reputation for service.”

Mountain Lumber Company is the sixth acquisition made by The Building Center in the past seven years.

Mountain Lumber Company describes itself as a “Sustainable Building Center.” The company’s mission statement is “To exceed the expectations by supporting our building community.”

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Kellick & Associates served as the exclusive advisor to Mountain Lumber Company, Inc.

Founded in 1977 by Ed Norris, The Building Center’s operations include full-service lumberyards, three truss plants, and two custom millwork operations.
