Earlier this year, Beacon made a pair of acquisitions to grow its waterproofing division.

Beacon announced new moves today as it looks to ramp up its specialty waterproofing division.

The roofing and building materials distributor, with nearly 500 locations in the United States and Canada, said the next step is a follow-up to its recent acquisitions of First Coastal Exteriors and Whitney Building Products. Both companies acquired have a focus on waterproofing products.

Beacon also said it has identified the waterproofing business platform as its new avenue for growth.

Since the purchases of First Coastal and Whitney, two new branches focused on waterproofing have opened in Largo and North Orlando, Florida.

Additionally, the Herndon, Virginia-based company has made fresh leadership moves in its waterproofing division.

Alan Ridge has been named as division vice president in charge of sales and branch operations while Alex Miranda has been appointed regional vice president, East, and Steve Artz is now regional vice president, West.

The moves have been made to “maximize our growth potential,” according to Martin Harrell, Beacon Waterproofing Division president.

The pair of new Florida branches are already open and co-located with Beacon exterior building products locations. The branches carry sealants, coatings, air and vapor barriers, and other waterproofing products necessary for construction, the company said.

Growing its waterproofing division is part of Beacon’s Ambition 2025 goals, designed to increase its presence and revenue in the overall building materials distribution market.

Beacon said it plans to open as many as 15 new branches this year.

This year, Beacon has already opened seven new locations, including branches in Nevada, Mississippi, Texas, and Georgia. The distributor plans to open as many as 15 new locations in 2023.

Beacon announced its acquisition of Boston-based Whitney Building Products on Jan. 3 and revealed the next day that it bought First Coastal Exteriors in Alabama.

The company also announced in April that it had acquired Al’s Roofing Supply, Inc. of Hayward, California, and Prince Building Systems, LLC of Neillsville, Wisconsin.

In May, Beacon reported sales moved ahead 2.7% to a new company first quarter record of $1.73 billion.
