10-Q Review: A mixed bag of results
Earnings season, so far, hasn't been kind to the bottom line.
Home Depot reported its big numbers for the third quarter, showing a 6.6 percent gain in sales and a 4.3 percent decline in net earnings.
Of the 30 companies tracked, 20 posted earnings declines in their latest quarter.
In the net income column, Builders FirstSource was down 36.9 percent, LP was down 23.7 percent, and Boise Cascade was down 36.4 percent. Jeld-Wen swung to a 74.4 million loss.
It's not all negativity. SWK posted a big net income gain, and FND and BECN reported top-line growth during their third quarters.
