Wilson Lumber rises with women
Wilson Lumber Company recently celebrated Women in Construction week with a luncheon event. With the theme “Together We Rise,” employees and customers enjoyed a keynote address from Sara Beth Wilcox of Brasfield and Gorrie.
According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau figures, women account for just 11.5 percent of the entire U.S. construction workforce. Alabama, where Wilson Lumber is located, is one of seven states in the South where that number continues to grow. Wilson notes that its female workforce is well above the national average, accounting for a 27 percent of its staff.
Wilson Lumber Company says it is supported by women in various roles across the organization, including the production of products like windows, doors, trim and trusses, as well as administrative, operations and leadership positions.
