Walker Lumber & Supply's special 75th anniversary logo.
Walker Lumber & Supply has reached a significant milestone.
The Nashville, Tennessee-based prodealer is celebrating 75 years of business this year. The company announced
Via a post on its Facebook page, the company acknowledged the anniversary and had this to say about its legacy:
“Celebrate with us as we take a trip down memory lane! 75 years ago, In 1949, our founder, Robert Walker, returned from World War II and started his own lumber company. What began as a small operation specializing in strip flooring, would eventually grow into a thriving business that has weathered many storms.”
“Starting in 1973, under the leadership of Bob Harwell (Robert Walker’s son-in-law), a Vietnam veteran and recent college graduate, the company evolved and continued to diversify, eventually becoming the first lumberyard in Tennessee to have Piggy Back forklifts on the back of their delivery trucks. Despite facing challenges such as the expansion of Home Depot and the closure of over half of the lumberyards in Nashville, Walker Lumber thrived.”
“Since 2016, under the ownership of Ray Hayles and Scott McMillan, Walker Lumber and Supply continues to innovate and modernize. Their focus on building a best-in-class management team and implementing technology while maximizing efficiency has put them at the forefront of the industry. But perhaps their greatest accomplishment is their nationally recognized “Second Chance Program,” which partners with local ministries to provide hope and restore dignity to people emerging from prison and addiction recovery.”
The dealer has also rolled out a special 75th-anniversary logo for the occasion.
Walker Lumber & Supply has been a member of LMC, the lumber and building materials cooperative, since 2022.
