Von Tobel hosts congressman
Congressman Frank J. Mrvan, who represents Indiana’s first congressional district in the northwest corner of the state, visited Valparaiso, Indiana-based Von Tobel Co., which operates four locations in the state, including showrooms, home centers and lumberyards.
Mrvan is a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, including the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee. At Von Tobel, the Democratic representative received a certificate of appreciation from Von Tobel and the Indianapolis-based Midwest Building Suppliers Association.
Tim Murphy, executive VP and CEO of the MBSA described the meeting with the congressman as a “fun and energetic exchange”
He added: “The congressman was most interested in what issues were important to us, including renewal of U.S.-Canada Softwood Lumber Agreement, the LICENSE Act to address the nation’s supply chain crisis and increase the number of available truck drivers, and the Credit Card Competition Act, which could introduce more competition in the marketplace.”
For Mark Zemrowski, chief operating officer of Von Tobel, the congressional yard visit occurred on the first day back from attending the ProDealer Industry Summit in Kansas City, where he took over the post as chair of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association.
Added Murphy: “These in-district meetings are terrific ways for dealers to affordably and conveniently engage solid grass-roots issues communication with their elected representatives, at both the state and federal level.”
