October is Careers in Construction Month. To mark the occasion, the Lowe’s Foundation released a video that debunks common, persistent myths about working in skilled trades, including:
- “Skilled trades jobs don’t pay well.”
- "Skilled trades are for men.”
- “Skilled trades are a ‘plan B.’”
- “There is no growth in the skilled trades.”
- “Skilled trades aren't impactful.”
As the company points out, the construction industry needs more than half a million workers to meet the demand just in 2024 alone.
