October is Careers in Construction Month. To mark the occasion, the Lowe’s Foundation released a video that debunks common, persistent myths about working in skilled trades, including:

  • “Skilled trades jobs don’t pay well.”
  • "Skilled trades are for men.”
  • “Skilled trades are a ‘plan B.’”
  • “There is no growth in the skilled trades.”
  • “Skilled trades aren't impactful.”

As the company points out, the construction industry needs more than half a million workers to meet the demand just in 2024 alone.

In the video above, the Lowe’s Foundation shares perspectives from educators and students who are shattering stereotypes and debunking outdated views of skilled trades jobs.
