Video Showcase: An LBM ‘Rookie of the Year’
84 Lumber honored its top-performing associates during the company’s annual awards banquet, naming John Fitzgerald, Manager of the Year; Jason Skaggs, Area Manager of the Year; and Dominick Santos, Rookie of the Year.
“Recognizing our dedicated associates and celebrating their achievements is something we look forward to every year,” said President and Owner, Maggie Hardy. “As a 67-year-old company, we know firsthand that our associates can thrive and enjoy incredible, lifelong success. We are one big family here at 84 Lumber, and families celebrate each other.”
Held on March 11th at the Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pa., the awards ceremony recognizes and rewards outstanding associates who have made positive impacts within the company and across the country.

2022 Rookie of the Year
Dominick Santos, Co-Manager, Jefferson City, Tenn.

Growing up in Guam amidst a family of fishermen, Dominick Santos, the 2022 Rookie of the Year, did not imagine himself emigrating to the United States or joining 84 Lumber. What he found at 84 Lumber when he joined one year ago was an environment which encouraged learning and professional – as well as personal – growth.
“Guys like Dominick, they really are the future of this company,” said Mark Ingersoll, Area Manager, Georgia and Tennessee.

Jason Skaggs, Area Manager, Florida
22 Years with 84 Lumber
“Nothing is impossible”
“Selling this dream is really easy because I’m living proof of it,” said Area Manager of the Year Jason Skaggs. Skaggs started as a Manager Trainee in Ohio more than 20 years ago and rose to various positions in Ohio and Florida. In 2015, he became area manager for Florida. [Watch profile here.]
“84 has provided me every opportunity imaginable. From a young kid coming out of college that didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life; to go through the manager trainee program and 22 years later to be the Area Manager of the Year for the second time – I have a successful career and a great family – it’s a dream come true,” said Skaggs. “If you are willing to work hard, listen and learn, you can succeed at 84 Lumber. The opportunities are there, you just have to take them.”
