VIDEO SHOWCASE: Aid for an Army veteran
Recently, U.S. Army Sergeant Anesi Maverick Tu’ufuli walked through the door of his new, fully accessible home, built for him by Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) with the help of Andersen.
Sgt. Tu’ufuli was wounded while on active duty in Iraq in 2005 when his unit was hit with an IED. He underwent several surgeries, including the amputation of his left leg. Since returning from Iraq, Sgt. Tu’ufuli and his family have lived in a two-story home not designed for someone with Sgt. Tu’ufuli’s injuries, making daily life a challenge. Now, Sgt. Tu’ufuli can move freely and comfortably throughout his custom one-level home, bringing newfound peace and comfort to him and his family.
Founded in 2009 by former Minnesota Vikings football defensive end Jared Allen, JAH4WW builds injury-specific, accessible and mortgage-free homes for injured veterans who have returned home from deployment. Andersen supports JAH4WW through product donation, including donating windows and doors for nearly all of the homes built by JAH4WW.
SGT Tu’ufuli’s home features Andersen 100 Series windows and a large MultiGlide door with a flush sill. This design enables easy transitions from indoor to outdoor living, according to the company. View the video below to see Sgt. Tu’ufuli in his new, accessible abode.
