US LBM, a national distributor of building materials, recently welcomed 38 interns to its Atlanta headquarters for a two-day orientation program. The interns will spend the summer program getting hands-on experience via weekly learning labs and completing a capstone project, according to the company.

"Joining this internship program has been an incredible journey so far. The genuine kindness and willingness to help from the HR team and colleagues have made this experience truly enriching. I'm excited to continue learning and growing within this exceptional community," said Gloria Castillo, a People & Culture intern.

"Without internships, it would be much more difficult to be set up for success by diving into the workforce straight after finishing our education."

Commercial Excellence intern Rajeev Iyer says, "I'm excited to work on my project this summer and contribute to the company. My experience is going great so far as I am learning so many new skills and getting the opportunity to learn from many of the associates."

Internships can play a crucial role in shaping future leaders by providing invaluable real-world experiences, says US LBM. Offering students an opportunity to apply knowledge in a practical setting enables interns to develop in-demand skills that are essential for the ever-changing workforce.

"Internships are important to the future of the workforce because they provide us with a way to bridge the gap between what we've learned in school and what the workforce actually consists of," said Natalie Vertin, a design intern. "It is a time for us to be able to make mistakes and learn from these mistakes as we are guided through real work scenarios and tasks. Without internships, it would be much more difficult to be set up for success by diving into the workforce straight after finishing our education."
