Unibilt Industries, a longtime member of building materials and lumber buying group LMC, has broken ground on a “first of its kind” community in Columbus, Ohio.

In conjunction with Vista Village, the development features 120 tiny homes, a community center, and a 2-acre park.

The Unibuilt-designed tiny homes measure at 420 square feet and even have a front porch.

According to LMC, Vista Village provides a range of support services to “empower residents towards economic independence and self-sufficiency for long-term well-being.”

Vista Village describes its work as an “innovative model centered around creating a supportive community where those experiencing homelessness can heal, thrive, and build a better future.”

Unibilt’s involvement began after an introduction made during the construction of another significant affordable housing project in Columbus.

The first phase of the Vista Village project broke ground last fall. Looking ahead, Unibilt said this type of construction project is “just beginning.”

“We’re already getting inquiries from other communities to do something similar,” said Greg Barney, president of Unibilt Custom Homes. “Everyone at Unibilt is very excited and grateful to be working with Vista Village to fulfill a need for this type of housing in Columbus.”

Serving the Ohio Valley region since 1969, Unibilt Industries manufactures modular homes.

Unibuilt says more than 80% of its homes are created within a secure manufacturing plant by skilled craftsmen, each with an average tenure of over 18 years.

LMC is located in Wayne, Pennsylvania with its membership operating more than 1,800 lumberyards and building supply locations.
