Throwback Thursday: the book on Aubuchon

9/30/2020

Here's an interesting fact: Westminster, Mass.-based Aubuchon Hardware was founded by a 23-year-old William E. Aubuchon in 1908.

Since then, the company has expanded to more than 100 stores, and has grown into an undisputed leader in New England hardware retailing. And along the way, a vast collection of interesting throwback photos were taken.

Many of those photos are collected in "Images of America, Aubuchon Hardware,' a 128-page book published by Arcadia Publishing.

On the cover is a 1933 photo of Philippe Veronneau, manager of the Aubuchon store on Main Street in Hudson, Mass.

DId you know that there was also a John B. Aubuchon Funeral Home (page 69)?; or that Aubuchon Hardware sponsored Charlie Moore, the TV show host also known as "the Mad Fisherman" (page 106)?

This fascinating book was published in 2008 in concert with the company's 100th anniversary.
