TAL Holdings, the rapidly rising family-owned building material centers in the Pacific Northwest has reached an agreement to acquire the three-store chain, Midway Building Supply.
Midway operates locations in Tonasket, Oroville, and Republic, Wa. Founded in 1958, Midway began as Midway Tile and manufactured concrete well tile in Ellisorde, Wash.
The founders, Myrtle and Don Wood Jr, changed the direction of the company after they bought their first load of lumber in 1965 and eventually the company became Midway Building Supply.
"We could not be more excited to welcome Midway Building Supply to our family of brands," shared Jason Blair, CEO of TAL Holdings. "Over the 64 years that Midway has been in business, they have continued to grow and support the communities they serve, fitting perfectly into TAL’s 'helping build better communities’ model."
Chris Wood, the third-generation owner joined Midway in 1984 and began running the family business in 1988. Under Wood’s leadership, Midway expanded to Oroville in 1989, relocated the Ellisforde location to Tonasket in 2001, and opened the Republic location in 2017.
Wood will stay on with the Midway team and play an important role after the completion of the acquisition, TAL Holdings said. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed
"We feel like we found a partner in TAL who places the same emphasis on people and community as we do here at Midway,” Wood said. “Joining forces with TAL will give our team more growth opportunities and allow us to broaden our reach and product offerings, allowing us to even better serve our customers."
