On Oct. 10, the Summit’s panel titled “NextGen Session: Perspectives from Emerging Young Leaders” will explore the topic of leadership through fresh eyes.

The background of the panel has been well documented: As the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry continues to evolve, the importance of recruiting and retaining the next generation of leaders has never been more critical.

Participants of the panel include Chad Bankston, Bankston Lumber; Kevin Fogle, Bliffert Lumber; and Virginia Lewis, Tart Lumber Co.

The panelists will share their insights on the challenges they face, the strategies they employ, and the evolving needs of their peers.

The transition into leadership roles presents a unique set of challenges for young professionals in the LBM industry. As they step into positions of greater responsibility, they must navigate a rapidly changing business landscape. The pressures of meeting company goals, driving innovation, and maintaining strong relationships with employees can be overwhelming.

However, these emerging leaders are not shying away from these challenges. Instead, they are embracing them as opportunities to redefine what leadership looks like in the LBM industry.

Attracting top young talent to the LBM industry is a crucial step in ensuring its future success. The panelists highlighted the need for innovative recruitment strategies that resonate with the values and expectations of the next generation.

The next generation of leaders is reshaping the workplace by demanding more flexibility and understanding from their employers. The panelists discussed how they are working to accommodate these evolving needs, particularly when it comes to work-life balance and the well-being of employees and their families

In this thought-provoking session,  participants will delve into the perspectives and experiences of the next generation of emerging young leaders.
