Red ToolBox, a California-based company that makes toys and tools geared toward children in partnership with brands like Black & Decker, Char-Broil and Scotts Miracle-Gro, is recalling a garden set that was sold at Costco.

According to the CPSC, the seven-piece Stanley-branded set, model number 1662178, contains a rake and hoe that "exceeded the federal lead paint ban, posing a lead poisoning hazard to children."

On its website, Red ToolBox addresses the recall. It states:

"Consumers should immediately stop using the Long Handle Hoe and Rake and take them away from children. Consumers will receive a replacement hoe and rake upon registration. This recall only involves the long handle hoe and rake that are part of the Stanley Jr. Kids Wheelbarrow and 7-piece Garden Set sold exclusively at Costco batch 12/2023."

The company also offers steps consumers can take to receive a replacement set.

Per the CPSC, the recalls pertains to roughly 459,200 units in the U.S. and approximately 60,480 in Canada. The $35 sets, which were manufactured in China, were sold at Costco stores nationwide and online from February 2024 through June 2024.
