Last year, Simpson Strong-Tie debuted its first mass timber catalog and line of fasteners.

Simpson Strong-Tie has partnered with Hundegger, the manufacturer of CNC-controlled joinery machines and technology.

The two companies have announced a joint indirect investment in North America Hundegger equipment sales and service representative partner, Hundegger USA, LC. Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

The move is expected to grow Simpson Strong-Tie’s presence in the mass timber construction market and components. Last year, Simpson Strong-Tie launched a comprehensive offering of code-approved connectors and fasteners to serve the growing North American mass timber construction market.

“We have known and worked with Hundegger for many years and are excited to build on our long-standing relationship,” said Roger Dankel, president of North America Sales for Simpson Strong-Tie. “This strategic investment will strengthen our joint growth and success in the mass timber and component manufacturing markets by offering North America customers end-to-end solutions, including integrated software from a single source.”

According to a press release issued by the two manufacturers, Simpson Strong-Tie brings decades of innovative construction products, advanced testing capabilities, and integrated technology solutions to the investment. Hundegger offers deep industry knowledge and unsurpassed, high-precision manufacturing expertise.

“Offsite wood construction is on an upward trajectory,” said Steve Shrader, business development for Hundegger USA. “The agreement with Simpson will not only enable us to expand deeper into offsite options and wood connectors, it will greatly benefit our customers by delivering a one-stop shop of high-quality products, machinery, and software solutions.”

Hundegger said more than 5,300 of its machines are in use worldwide.

This includes in timber construction industries such as mass timber, cross-laminated timber, timber frame joinery, wood trusses, and panel saws, as well as engineered wood product saws and off-site construction facilities. Hundegger USA is based in Herber City, Utah.

“Hundegger is a leading equipment provider with years of experience in the structural components industry,” added April Burt, vice president of building technology for Simpson Strong-Tie. “Together, we can leverage our strengths and offer a uniquely integrated range of knowledge and solutions.”

Based in Pleasanton, Simpson Strong-Tie manufactures fasteners and structural connectors in addition to providing building solutions.
