Paint and coatings manufacturer Sherwin-Williams announced that President and Chief Operating Officer David Sewell is leaving the company.
Sewell notified Sherwin-Williams of his decision to resign effective as of the close of business on March 12, to become chief executive officer of another company outside of the coatings industry.
"We thank David for his many contributions to Sherwin-Williams over his 14 years with the Company, and we wish him much success in his future endeavors," said Sherwin-Williams Chairman and CEO, John Morikis. "Our deep and experienced global team continues to move forward with great momentum, focused on delivering solutions to our customers and executing on initiatives that will drive sustained long-term success."
Sewell was appointed president and COO by the company’s board of directors, effective March 1, 2019. Prior to that, Sewell served as president of Sherwin-Williams' Performance Coatings Group since August 2014. He joined the Cleveland, Ohio-based company in 2007.
Morikis will serve as president in addition to his current role and assume Sewell's primary duties and responsibilities, the company said.
Sherwin-Williams products are sold through a chain of 4,900 stores in addition to brands sold through leading mass merchandisers, home centers, independent paint dealers, hardware stores, automotive retailers, and industrial distributors.
