“The executive changes reflect our commitment to continuous improvement, streamlining the team, and shifting responsibilities for running the company to our next generation leaders,” said CEO Hagedorn.

Scotts Miracle-Gro announced a reorganization of its executive team.

Mike Lukemire, president, and Denise Stump, EVP, global human resources, both retired October 1, the start of the firm’s 2024 fiscal year.

Jim Hagedorn, chairman and CEO, has assumed the additional duties of president with Lukemire’s departure.

“We’re right sizing into a leaner, less layered and more agile organization capable of quickly adjusting to macroeconomic factors and capitalizing on opportunities,” said Hagedorn.

Replacing Stump is Julie DeMuesy, most recently SVP, human resources operations, who has been promoted to senior vice president, chief human resources officer and chief ethics officer.

DeMuesy has been with the company for 13 cumulative years, serving in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility.

In a related move, Matt Garth, who joined the company a year ago as executive vice president and CFO, has been named to the expanded role of chief administrative officer.

Garth is responsible for corporate functions, including finance, strategy, legal, investor relations and corporate communications, said the firm.

This move follows the recent promotion of Nate Baxter to chief operating officer.

Under the new executive structure, Baxter is responsible for operation functions, including supply chain, sales, marketing, R&D and IT.
