Russin adds Tranquility Paneling
Montgomery, New York-based Russin added Tranquility Paneling to its mix. The new brand of pine the company will distribute throughout its 13-state trading area.
Tranquility Paneling is made from American-harvested Ponderosa Pine, much of it salvaged after
wildfires. These fires can make surviving trees more susceptible to beetle infestation, because beetles can carry a fungus that causes some of the fiber in the wood to turn blue,
The company said it's important to harvest this fiber so forests can naturally regrow.
While the blue stain imparts a beautiful characteristic to the wood, it doesn't impact the
longevity or performance of the fiber. The wood is kiln dried, ensuring no beetles or
larvae survive production.
Blue Stain has always been around, the company says, but the recent emphasis on sustainable forestry has renewed an interest in its quality.
