Mount Carroll Home Center
The move pushes R.P. Lumber’s store count to 84 across six states.
In announcing the deal, Robert L. Plummer, president & CEO of R.P. Lumber, credited Mount Carroll owners Fred and Deb Paschke for building a legacy of quality in Carroll County.
“This lumberyard has been serving professional builders and DIY homeowners across Carroll County and the surrounding area since 1984,” Plummer said. “The locals in Mount Carroll have come to trust Fred and Deb for their home improvement solutions, and we intend to honor their legacy by expanding the store’s product selection, service territory, and employee product training.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In a statement, Fred Paschke added: “We’ve been friendly competitors and industry peers with R.P. Lumber for as long as we can remember. When we finally got the chance to meet them in person, we were immediately reassured we’d found the trusted successor we’d been seeking.”
In addition to Mount Carroll Home Center, R.P. Lumber’s acquisition streak so far this year includes Schrock Lumber in Mediapolis, Iowa; Golden Rule Lumber in Ottawa, Illinois; and Custer Do it Best Hardware & Lumber in Custer, South Dakota.
R.P. Lumber opened its first location in Staunton, Illinois in 1977 and has continued to grow throughout the states of Illinois, Missouri, Wyoming, Iowa, Wisconsin, and South Dakota.
